What is Ellipse?

Ellipse uses short, safe bursts of intense pulsed light (called Selective Waveband Technology, often referred to as a laser) to remove unwanted hair from all body sites in minutes. The results can last for years.

How does Ellipse treatment work?

A thin layer of gel (similar to ultrasound gel) is applied to your skin before treatment, to ensure the maximum amount of light enters the skin. The Ellipse applicator is pressed against the skin and a carefully controlled pulse of visible light is released. Potentially harmful wavelengths that only heat up water in the skin are removed using patented Ellipse Dual Mode Filtering. The remaining light is absorbed by pigment (melanin) in your hair. Melanin converts the light into heat, which travels down the hair and heats the hair matrix, preventing future hair growth.

Can all hairs be treated?

Because the treatment relies on absorption of light by melanin, there needs to be melanin in the hair. This means that light blonde, red, grey or white hairs do not respond, the most efficient treatment is seen with dark hair.

How many treatments do I need?

Every hair has a life cyle; it grows for a period of time, falls out, rests and then starts to grow again. Only hairs that are growing can be treated – so you need to repeat the treatment at intervals until all the hair follicles have been treated while growing. The length and timing of the growth cycles are affected by numerous factors such as body site, hormone levels and age. A minimum of 6 treatments is recommended.

Courses are available – Purchase 5 treatments and receive your 6th one free. A minimum course of 6 is recommended.

Electrolysis – using Apilus Permanent Hair Removal

What is Apilus?

Apilus Electrolysis is the latest in cutting edge technology in electrolysis. Apilus treatments are far more efficient and virtually painless compared to the older generations of electrolysis. This unique machine also includes a post electrolysis treatment to reduce redness, soothe the skin and increase healing time.

What is Electrolysis?

Electrolysis is a method of removing individual hairs from the face and body. Today’s electrolysis devices destroy the growth centre of the hair with chemical or heat energy. A very fine probe is inserted into the hair follicle, the current is released to the base of the follicle, the hair is removed with tweezers. To this day electrolysis remains the only 100% effective permanent hair removal method and can treat all hair types and skin types.

How many treatments will I need?

Every hair has a life cycle; it grows for a period of time, falls out, rests and then starts to grow again. The treatment will need to be repeated at intervals until all the hair follicles have been treated in its growth period. The length and timing of the growth cycles are affected by numerous factors such as body site, hormone levels age and medication. Therefore each person may require a different number of treatments. Hairs affected by hormones such as facial hair may require regular treatment over a longer period.

Will it hurt?

You will feel a warm sensation and some areas are more sensitive. However our clients have found the Apilus to be more comfortable than previous electrolysis treatments..

Will I be red after my treatment?

The area treated may be slightly red, each follicle a little swollen and feel warm or itchy, this will subside after a few hours depending on how sensitive your skin is. After the electrolysis we apply a soothing gel and carry out the unique Apilus Catophoresis treatment. Catophoresis reduces redness, speeds up healing time and has an antibacterial effect on the skin. Jane Iredale Mineral make-up is the only make-up we would recommend to use if you wanted to conceal any redness. After your treatment we will give you an aftercare sheet.
